ORYX GTL has set up a lunch banquet, to appreciate the members who participated effectively in the Project of supplying the school buses with high-specification fuel which is produced by ORYX GTL. Such Project is one of the commitment of ORYX GTL to implement its strategy to boost the awareness of the benefits of clean fuel eco-friendly, which meets the requirements of the strict international standards in respect of the emissions. Furthermore, such ambitious initiative had been launched in the frame of close cooperation among the Supreme Education Council, Mowasalat Company‎‏, Qatar Fuel “WOQOD”, Qatar University, and Texas A&M University- Qatar. Whereas Mowasalat Company provided 20 School buses for schools, 10 School buses was provided with conventional diesel fuel, and the other 10 School buses with ORYX GTL diesel. Qatar University, and Texas A&M University- Qatar were assigned to conduct the analysis, in order to compare the performance of the buses fueled with ORYX GTL diesel with the ones fueled with the conventional diesel fuel. WOQOD handled the fuel transportation from ORYX GTL factory located in Ras Laffan industrial City to the station from which the school bus were fueled, also it managed the process of providing the buses with the fuel. In addition, ORYX GTL supplied the GTL synthetic diesel for the Project and conducted several experiments to compare the operation of the buses, environmental impact, and engine wear and tear, through evaluation of the engine oil by local universities, without interruption to the services. GTL synthetic diesel had proven suitable for use as a replacement for conventionally produced diesel with the added benefits of reduced toxic emissions, reduced engine noise, and cleaner air. The aim is not only to demonstrate the optimum performance of the GTL synthetic diesel but also to highlight the environmentally friendly characteristics of GTL synthetic diesel. The intention of this Project is to show the various stakeholders, locally and internationally, that GTL synthetic diesel can be used under harsh temperature and dusty conditions (never tested before) and to highlight the benefits to the end user and public.
